There is something nostalgic about a front porch. When I was younger I always looked forward to going to my grandmother’s house. Times were simpler then and it didn’t take much to amuse me. When I wasn’t playing in the yard with my brothers or picking peaches from my grandmother’s trees, you would find me on her front porch. It was a place to sit in a rocking chair, sip homemade lemonade, and dream of what things would be like for me in the future. I dreamed of being an actress or singer on Broadway and I always thought about having 10 children or more….
Now the future is here… My dreams weren’t to far off… Im not an actress on Broadway but I am involved in broadcasting and media for the Lord. I have 3 grown children and soon to be 10 grandchildren and I pastor a flock of spiritual children. I have my own front porch now and thankfully it is screened in and has ceiling fans!
There is such a quietness on my front porch. It helps me to focus. It’s where I love to sit and meditate on the Lord and read His word.. With the birds chirping in the background and the coastal wind whistling through the trees I sit and meditate on the Lord and His goodness. I open His Word and search the Scriptures to find that Rhema word that will get me through another day.
I still daydream but now as I look upon the green grass and the trees I ponder what will the future be for my children and grandchildren….
What about you? Do you still daydream? Do you have a quiet place? Why don’t you take the time today and get alone with the Lord and meditate on His goodness…
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord..Lamentations 3:25-26
