My husband and I go on weekend adventures and I love taking pictures that correlate with scriptures. I will be sharing these pics and others that I find as I write on subjects that pertain to them. Some days I may be posting pics of the ocean or the Texas Hill Country, while other days I may be posting healthy tips as I am on a journey of healthy eating. Today I am focusing on one of my favorite Texas rivers, the Guadalupe.
I grew up in the Texas Hill Country and there is nothing I like doing more than going there and spending the day on the river. Even though I live by the Texas Gulf Coast, which I love, there is something about looking at the cypress trees and the rippling water running through the rocks of our Hill Country Rivers. Calming. Peaceful. Serenity. No wonder the Psalmist wrote,..”He leads me beside the still waters…” in Psalm 23.
This particular picture I have posted reminded me of the teaching in the book of Jeremiah. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river; and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV.
When we put our trust and hope in the Lord we are like those trees. See how their roots are tapped into the water? They have no fear of drought because their roots are in the river. When heat does come they don’t get anxious or wilt. Because they have the water to draw from. This is a perfect picture of how we should live our lives in the Word. Our spiritual being is like a plant and when it is not watered it gets dehydrated so when the enemy comes in we don’t have the stamina to stand or pray. The Word waters us. We need to water ourselves with God’s promises. His Word revives us and reminds us of who we are. So when the attacks do come you have the strength to stand and say, NOT TODAY! I am a child of the King and my hope is in Him…
Draw from that living water so you will be nourished in these times we are living in today.
Blessings, Deborah
