One of the things that I am passionate about is healthy eating and encouraging others to do the same. Disease is running rampant in our country and around the world. I myself have had some serious health issues in past years but when I started eating healthier my body started improving. It can be such a battle. When I say battle, I mean food is the last thing we as Christians hold on to. We have given up a lot of other things in our life but food seems harmless, so we tend to go overboard with it. Just go to a Church pot luck dinner and see what I mean. I also come from a large family who loves to gather around the dinner table and eat, whether it is at home or a restaurant! But did you know that you can gather around the table with family or friends and enjoy eating the right way? Yes, it is possible!
We are without excuse. We have such a broad spectrum of healthy choices today. We have gluten free, nut free, diary free, meat free, sugar free, and egg free products in almost every store. There are grocery stores in almost every city that go to great lengths to provide a variety of foods just right for your diet. Whether you go to the grocery store or order online you have the choice to eat healthy. I believe the best way to start is by ordering ahead of time at your local grocery store and pick it up curb side or at an online healthy grocery outlet so you will not be tempted when you pass the bakery isle or the special of the day.
I try to buy everything as organic as I can. The reason being is that there are so many pesticides sprayed on our crops. I believe this is one of the greatest injustices that has happened to the food industry in our country and elsewhere, right along with GMO’s. If you would goggle how pesticides are used on our crops and what GMO’s do to our bodies you would be very shocked. But we keep buying the products without the knowledge. The Bible reads, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” Hosea 4:6. Some people complain that buying “organic” is to expensive but my mom said something profound to me one day. “You either will pay a little more at the grocery store or a lot more at the doctors office or hospital”. Which would you prefer? I have seen prices lower in the organic food industry. Depending on where you shop over half of the organic vegetables are the same price as regular vegetables. The more the demand the better the pricing I believe.
I pray that you will take a serious look at your health and decide that today is the first day of the rest of your life and start advancing towards making wiser decisions concerning the foods you eat. I will be adding more articles on food and health to our website so I hope that you will try and join us in our quest of spreading the word about Healthy Choices. And as always please check with your private physician before making any changes to your diet.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
