Sometimes when we are down and our head hangs low there is no better place to go than the book of Psalms…
“But You, oh Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill.” Ps 3:3-4 NKJV
During the trials of faith in the early stages of my ministry I spent many nights in the book of Psalms. The scriptures would bring me out of the darkness into His marvelous light. They were healing to me. There is nothing that can comfort you like the Word of God. “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
So many times we become overwrought and it is hard to keep our head up. We become discouraged and our hope starts failing. If that is you I want to encourage you to please open your Bible and start reading. Keep reading until that Rhema Word pops out at you. That is the Lord speaking to you as only He can. If you’re needing direction, go to the Word. If you’re needing encouragement go to the Word. If you’re needing hope go to the Word. I can encourage you somewhat but there is nothing like the Word that can give you the victory that you need. That is why I love the first scripture in this text. He is a shield to us. He protects us like no one else can. He is the one who lifts us up. He takes away our shame. He is the glory and the lifter of our heads. He hears our cry so keep on praying and keep on seeking Him. Hallelujah!
