I am the wife of an extraordinary husband, mother of three beautiful grown children, and grandmother to almost (one on the way) 10 precious grandchildren. I live on the Texas coast and call the Texas Hill Country my second home. I am the pastor of a small church where we minister to the one lost sheep. For over 15 years we have sheltered, fed, and nurtured the hurting of our community. Through our past experiences we were able to be a beacon, along with other churches, to those who were ravaged by Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. As our area is slowly coming back to life my personal ministry is expanding.
I am now engaged in starting a Broadcasting Media Company and re-answering a call to Radio. I am an Anger Management Specialist and Crime Victims Advocate. Restorative ministry is my love but I developed the heart of a shepherdess through studying the Word of God, raising a family, and going through the trials of life. (Isn’t that where we learn most of our valuable lessons, through family or circumstances?) Through the tribulations in my life the Lord developed my character.“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4
One of the hardest obstacles to cross in being called into ministry was becoming a woman pastor. But I soon learned that what God guides He provides. When women started coming to me for prayer during their abuse or after they had an abortion I knew the Lord knew what He was doing. It never dawned on me that it would be hard for women to talk to male pastors about such things. Abuse and abortions are growing in our country and churches need to be prepared on how to nurture these women back to life. Some have been told they need to pray and endure the abuse. This is an injustice. Scriptures give us a way out through the Pauline principle. I pray that I can be an inspiration to women who have felt a calling but because of gender they did not fulfill the call. Women in ministry are very important to the Lord. In the Old Testament Deborah and Esther saved nations. In the New Testament women supported Jesus financially, saved cities, and taught the Word (Romans 16 was eye opening to me).
Men are an important part of our ministry as well. Their issues are different but important. We believe the Word of God can transform anyone into greatness no matter what they have been through. We are a family to those without a family…
Two of the most important lessons I have learned in my walk is to listen to that “still small voice” and to use what you have in your hand. But before I adapted those principles I was struggling with “what am I supposed to do?” I was not happy and circumstances had not turned out the way I had dreamed. The Lord showed me two things that transformed my life.
1) The Lord impressed upon my heart one day this simple but profound statement: “Don’t look at circumstances, just love Me.” This has been a life changing word for me. When things get out of whack in my life I think back on this word and it brings me peace and assurance that He is still in control. He just requires that I love Him. 2) Several books inspired me that asked questions like: “What are your gifts?” “Are you using them in your life?” “What is your vision?” “Are you happy?” We were born for a purpose and if we are not going in that direction it will cause unhappiness and allow us to get sidetracked. “Where there is no vision (no redemptive revelation of God), the people perish; but he who keeps the law (of God; which includes that of man) blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.” Proverbs 29:18 Amp.
Through this truths the Lord guided me right to what was in my hand and my mouth all along…His gifts. He inspired me years ago to write and to speak but through the trials and circumstances I laid them down. He truly is a God who turns everything around for good. You see, He knew I would be going through those circumstances and trials. He knew I would get sidetracked even while doing His work because He knew you would need my experience to get you back on track with your own life.
You need someone cheering you on and inspiring you. Inspire means to inhale, be influenced, so that things in your life can be brought about, and by this you will be stirred into action. God needs you. We are in a lost and dying world and the Body of Christ needs to rise up and fulfill the Great Commission.
The Lord has warnings for us as well as encouragements. Prophecy is alive and well these days just as it was in Bible times. We need to be listening and paying attention to what the Spirit is saying. We need to know what is going on in this world according to scripture. We would have to live on another planet to not be concerned with what is happening. The Lord has called me to give out the whole truth and that includes His warnings as it reads in Colossians 1:28. “Him we preach warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
